Gretchen Becker is a dance educator working professionally for 22 years. Her teaching specialties are ballet and children's work in private and public schools. She earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Michigan with a focus on child development and dance technique. She is a certified licentiate ballet teacher member of the Cecchetti Council of America with successful completion of students' and teachers'; exams I-VI. Gretchen was a young member of Lansing Ballet Company II, performing in "Sleeping Beauty" and "La Fille Mal Garde." Later she performed in Martha Graham's "Panorama" with U of M, "Scrooge" with Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania and "West Side Story" with Grosse Point Theatre in Michigan. She has taught and choreographed for many schools, including the Discovery Program and Calhoun School in New York City, and has adjudicated for performance and competition groups, including the Michigan State University Dance Team. Gretchen currently is working with Education for the Arts as a Teaching Artist and resides in Michigan with her husband and two children.
